Could this be a result of laziness? , not really. The limited technology growth in this part of the world is an effect of some Natural and manmade disasters, educational, political and even traditional factors. Below are some of the reasons that terminate technology increase and advancements in some parts of the world;
Poor educational system:
The concept of technology cannot be over emphasized without the notion of transitioning, which is mostly through education and learning. When talking about technology, Education is a necessity. On an emphasis, it’s noticed that about 95% of low level technological advanced countries do not practically promote technical education. Rather, more interest is in the general education. Technical educational system is one which promotes the implementation of technology and invention.
To this effect, one can likely say the technology foundation for most of these areas is not strong enough to implement most of the recent technologies trending throughout the globe today and thereby causing those with the desire for technology to flee out in other to postulate their ideas.
Natural and manmade disasters:
Most countries in the Middle East and North Africa are mostly affected by some humanitarian crisis like War and instability which in return brings them a lot of destruction and inhibit them from exploring more when it comes to technology and its advancement.
This is one of the greatest limitations to technology and technical advancement. Some of these countries Whose technological advancement has been hindered by Humanitarian crisis include; Yemen, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Iran and Sudan.
In addition, There are as well natural disasters that hinder the growth of technology in some part of the globe. Some of these are Earthquakes, flood etc. in this context, we can talk about a country like; Bangladesh which suffers the highest flood rate in the world. This has affected technology in Bangladesh intensively.
Political Factors:
The increase in technology in the world has reduced a lot of political crimes like embezzlement of funs. To this effect most governments in these low level technological advancement countries seize not to accept the improvement of technology in their countries due to self-interests. Hence, one can say here that the low-level technology in these countries is just a political choice.
Example here is in the case of Eritrea which is under the torment of dictatorship. Till date, Eritrea operates with just one landline network operator. Communication technology in this country is very poor and less manageable
Traditional factors:
It’s important to note here that technology is not just a machine but is a whole set of relationships between humans beings, utensils and even fields of knowledge.
In this aspect, we talk of technology related to human behavior and cultural values. Some countries still hold on to traditional values that inhibit the advancement of technology in the country. In such nations, technology is not a priority. Examples of countries with this challenge of choice between technology and Technology is Timor-Leste which is a new country located in the north of Australia, Lesotho is also said to be one of the least technological countries that hold on to more cultural values
